POLO — Nathaniel Yingling was recently named the April Student of the Month at Polo Community High School and received a scholarship from the Polo Schools Foundation for his efforts. He is the son of Ken and Jenni Yingling

Yingling extracurricular activities include football, basketball, baseball, trap shooting, FFA and the bass fishing club. After high school, he plans to enlist in the Marine Corps.

Upon winning the award, Yingling filled out a list of questions about his school experience.

What does it take to be a successful high school student?

Try your best and do your homework.

What class do you find really engaging and why?

Production Woodworking with Ted Alston. In this class we have been making chairs to sell to people who ordered them. I do this with my friends Brock Soltow and Jacob Monaco.

What are your career and post-graduation plans?

I am currently enlisted in the Marines and plan to be Security Forces and then try to join the FAST Team.

What are your two favorite extracurricular, volunteer or community activities you participate in?

Football because I loved working with my friends to win games and make ourselves better people with better work ethics. Bass fishing because I like fishing and I can learn new techniques to use while I’m fishing.

Please share a moment, group event or activity at school that was meaningful or memorable.

When we beat Milledgeville in the playoffs this year.

What is your hope for the future?

To be successful in whatever career I choose after the Marines and be able to provide for a family.
