FREEPORT — The Byron High School speech team took second out of five schools in the IHSA Freeport Regional on Saturday, Feb. 3. Byron fielded two regional champions including Abigail Baker (informative speaking) and Fynn Remhof (radio speaking).
The Tigers also fielded five second-place finishers including Masyn Brown and Amelie Rosavelasquez (humorous duet acting), Amelie Rosavelasquez (humorous interpretation), Elinor McHale (impromptu speaking), Nova Rakowski (prose reading) and Taryn Dolan (special occasion speaking).
Byron rostered three third-place performers including Nova Rakowski (dramatic interpretation), Elinor McHale (original comedy) and Liliana Ramos (original oratory). Taryn Dolan and Averi Helms (dramatic duet acting) took fourth in their event.
