Ogle County Sheriff’s Report: Feb. 23-26, 2024

OREGON — On Feb. 23 at approximately 3 p.m. deputies arrested Montana Chesko, 21, of Rochelle on an outstanding warrant for aggravated battery to a nurse.  Chesko appeared in court and was arrested on a failure to appear warrant. Chesko posted bond and does not have to return to court.

On Feb. 23 at 10 a.m., the Ogle County Sheriff's Office investigated a battery complaint involving a 15-year-old male, from Monroe Center, and a juvenile female victim.  After the investigation, the male was taken into limited custody for battery and released to his guardian.

On Feb. 23 at 6:02 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 6,000 block of North River Road. After a brief investigation, deputies arrested Joseph Roth, 48, of Byron, for driving while license suspended. Roth was released with a notice to appear.

On Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 6,000 block of North Illinois Route 2. As a result, Rachael A. Smith, 38 of Rockford, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine. Smith was additionally issued citations for expired registration, suspended registration/non insured, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Smith was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where she was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On Feb. 24 at approximately 10:25 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2,000 block of South Illinois Route 251. After an investigation, deputies arrested Arturo E. Morales-Jiminez, 47, of Rockford, for driving unlicensed. Morales-Jiminez was transported to the Ogle County Jail and, after processing, was released with a notice to appear in court.

On Feb. 24 at 10:29 p.m. deputies, with the assistance of Oregon Police Department, conducted a traffic stop in the 4,000 block of North Illinois Route 2 to investigate a domestic disturbance. After a brief investigation, Damian Rodden, 23, of Oregon, was placed under arrest for driving while license suspended. Rodden was released with a notice to appear in court.

On Feb. 24 at 1:12 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop on North Illinois Route 251 at the intersection with East Lindenwood Road. As a result, deputies arrested Anna E Ramsby-Thrower, 42, of Freeport for driving on a suspended license. Ramsby-Thrower was additionally issued citations for expired registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Ramsby-Thrower was released on a notice to appear with a future court date.

On Feb. 25 at approximately 2:36 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 8,000 block of Kishwaukee Road. After investigation, deputies placed Elizabeth Blascak, 35, of Cherry Valley, under arrest for driving while license suspended.  Blascak was released on a notice to appear at the scene and given a future court date.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 9:30 a.m. deputies arrested Mark Rowe, 38, of Polo at the Ogle County Courthouse. He was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant for manufacturing/delivery cannabis/30-500 grams. Rowe was unable to post the $4,628 bond and appeared in court where his bond was reduced to $525. Rowe posted bond, was released, and will return to court on March 25 at 9 a.m.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 10:45 a.m. deputies arrested Corey Kelchner, 39, of Steward when he turned himself into the Ogle County Jail. He was arrested an outstanding failure to appear warrant for possession of a firearm with a revoked FOID card. Kelchner was unable to post the $4,661 bond and appeared in court where his bond was reduced to $300. Kelchner posted bond, was released, and will return to court on March 25 at 9 a.m.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 10:50 a.m. deputies arrested Martha Vargas, 30, of Aurora at the Ogle County Courthouse. She was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant ($2,676 bond) and a second warrant (no bond), both for driving under the influence of alcohol. Vargas appeared in court where her bond was set at $500. If she is unable to post bond, she will remain in custody until her court date on Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 3:30 p.m. deputies arrested Thomas Minton, 41, of Freeport at the Ogle County Courthouse.  He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for driving while license suspended. Minton was unable to post the $15,000 (10 percent) bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27 at 1 p.m.

On Feb. 26 at approximately 10:28 p.m. deputies responded to the 8,000 block of North Kilbuck Road in response to the report of a suspicious vehicle. After investigation, Jose M. Martinez, 28, of Rockford, was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while license revoked, aggravated driving while under the influence of alcohol, and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon as a felon. Martinez was also cited for improper lane usage, failure to reduce speed, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. Martinez was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he was held, awaiting an appearance before a judge.

All individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
