FORRESTON — During the March Forrestville Valley Board of Education meeting, a resolution was approved to accept a donation of property from Eileen Anderson located at 503-505 Main Street in Forreston.

The Anderson family donated the property in memory of Keith “Andy” Anderson. Andy was a proud businessman who always contributed positively to the Forreston Community. Eileen shared with the district, “Andy grew up in Forreston and lived and played on this corner.  He would want the school district to have the property.”

Mrs. Anderson first approached Board Member Dr. April Moore in mid-January with her proposal to donate the adjacent property. Eileen shared with the district, “Andy always said the school needed a bus garage, and perhaps this is a way for the district to be able to add one.”

The property currently houses apartment complexes adjacent to the Forreston Junior/Senior High School west parking lot.

Superintendent Smith shared, “I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the Anderson Family and their support for our school district. This is a gift that will continue to give to not only our district but the community for years to come.”

Board President Braker continues, “Forrestville Valley is extremely grateful for the generosity of the Anderson family. The donation of this property will enable us to continue to upgrade our facilities for the benefit of our students and community.”

During the meeting the Board of Education and administration expressed their gratitude to the Anderson family represented by Eileen Anderson, her daughter Tracey Anderson, and her grandson Andrew Anderson Birkholz for such a generous gift. Currently the district does not have immediate plans for building. However, the availability of this adjacent property will open the doors for a variety of avenues in the near future.
