DAVIS JUNCTION – William C. Doane, 71, husband, father, grandfather passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 as a result of a vehicle accident. Bill was born on July 31, 1947 in Aurora, Illinois to Francis M. and Edna E. (Jepsen) Doane.  

He married Daphne Davis on Nov. 22, 1969 in Geneva, Illinois. Bill was a man of many talents, abilities and interests, ranging from operator, farmer, business owner, craftsman and welder to trap shooter, drag racer and Freemason. He was known as “Wild Bill” to many.

Bill is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Daphne Doane of Davis Junction; five children: Nikki Doane of Lindenwood, Robert (Julie) Doane of Dickinson, Texas, William M. (Angie) Doane of Sabula, Iowa, Jarred (Julie) Doane of Davis Junction, and Gary (Beth) Doane of Batavia; 19 grandchildren: Cade, Annie, Taylor, Jacob, Hannah, Willow, Xan, Alayna, Kyle, Makayla, John, Alec, Violet, Benjamin, Cassie, Angel, Brianna, Megan and Levi; great grandson on the way, Jaxx and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son, Scott Doane; sister, Phyllis (Stogie) Stowe and brother, Duane (Marge) Doane.

The visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. An additional visitation was from 10-11 a.m., Friday, March 29, 2019 at Maywood Evangelical Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Road, Rockford.  The funeral service followed at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Kniseley officiating. Graveside service at Big Mound Cemetery at 2 p.m. Memorials may be made in Bill’s memory to Maywood Evangelical Free Church, Shriners Hospital for Children, Alzheimer’s Association or Ronald McDonald House.
