STILLMAN VALLEY – Stillman Valley High School student, Nate Youman, has been named a Commended Student for the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Students are chosen because of their test score from the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). These students have shown outstanding academic potential and are among the 50,000 highest-scoring participants. “Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for MNSC.
Youman has also been identified as a College Board National Recognition Program Scholar for the National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program. These students have scored in the top 2.5 percent OF PSAT/NMSQT test takers who identify as someone who attends school in a rural area or are from a small town.
Youman is an incoming senior and is very active in both athletics and activities. Youman also serves on the Illinois State Board of Education Student Advisory Committee.
“Mister Nate Youman is an exemplary student whose pursuit of excellence in the academic arena is second to none,” said SVHS Principal, Leslie Showers. “His mature approach to academic achievement, service, and leadership is truly impressive and admired by faculty, staff, and peers.”
