MOUNT MORRIS – Encore! Mt. Morris welcomes Megan Peterson as their Summer 2020 Artist-in-Residence.

Peterson has a bachelor's degree in painting and writing from St. Ambrose University and is interested in pursuing museum work and computer art. She is from Rockford, has experience leading summer craft programs, teaching paint parties, helping at museum-hosted art camps, working on a city mural, and loves making art with lots of people.

This time is strange and surprising right now, but Peterson and Encore! are planning ways to keep making art fun this summer. She can't wait to meet you all soon – whether it's through video or in person, you’ll be able to make beautiful art together and stay safe and healthy.

Encore! Mt. Morris (following current federal, state, and local guidelines, and safety protocols) will be offering weekly online art projects for students first grade through high school starting June 8, and safe social distance events this summer; including Plein-air sessions, fire hydrant painting, and more. There will be no gallery shows in June or July. The scheduled July shows; ‘Home is Where the Heart Is’ and ‘Small Time, Two Bit Show’ have been moved to August. PorchFest has moved to Aug. 8, The US National Straw Sculpting Competition is currently scheduled to remain Aug. 7-23, with Straw-Fest scheduled for Aug. 22 being questionable, but hopeful with modifications.

Encore Mt. Morris continues the mission of making Mt. Morris a rural destination for the arts. Encore strives to safely provide art opportunities. Events may be subject to change.

Encore! Mt. Morris is composed of volunteers committed to developing Mt. Morris into a unique, thriving rural and cultural arts destination in northwest Illinois. Visit EncoreMtMorris.com for more information on all events, or call Village Hall at 815-734-6425 to leave a message.
