On Wednesday, April 14, 2021 Melvin T. Clubb, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at the age of 72.
Melvin was born Dec. 7, 1948 in Rockford, to Pete Rager St and Dorie Carter. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. On June 28, 1969 he married Gayla Clark. They raised two sons Jeffrey and Justin, and three daughters Tracy, Denia and Marlaina.
Melvin was an operator in Local 150 for 25 years before retiring. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always wanted a big family. He and his wife enjoyed raising goats and chickens on their farm. He also enjoyed joking with everyone he met, meeting up with fellow war veterans and friends for food and coffee where they would sit around talking.
Melvin is survived by his wife Gayla; four of his children Tracy (Kevin Kurth) Clubb, Jeffrey (Tammy) Clubb, Denia (Shawn) Fleming, Marlaina (Pete) Walker; his grandchildren Michael, Randy, Heather, Kurth, Samantha, Brandon, Jessica Clubb, Steven Katelin Croffoot, Xavier, Shawn Jr, Jasmine Fleming; his great grandchildren Logan, Lexus, Mia Kurth, McKenna, Maverick Croffoot. He was predeceased in death by his father Pete; mother Doris; his sister sue and son Justin.
A celebration of Melvin’s life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, Illinois 61108.
