GENOA — Walcamp Park hosted the 2020 Big Northern Conference Championships this past weekend, with several Ogle County cross country teams lacing up for the meet.
Byron’s boys finished third with 126 points, while Stillman Valley placed fifth and Oregon took eighth. Oregon’s girls placed fifth, while Byron finished sixth and Stillman Valley took ninth.
Leah Watters led the Oregon girls, finishing 21st in 20:23.52 while Faith Marquardt placed 23rd in 20:25.24. Rebekah Starwalt and Sarah Tillett recorded top-25 finishes for Byron’s girls, taking 18th and 22nd with respective times of 19:59.65 and 20:23.75. Sam Lewis led Byron’s boys in the meet, finishing 11th with a time of 17:09.51 while Oregon’s Ryan Hussung and Stillman Valley’s Salvador Salas-Godinez placed 15th and 16th with times of 17:27.09 and 17:27.71.
