FORRESTON – Janet Arlene Buffington, 86, of Forreston, passed away, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in her home surrounded by loved ones. Janet was born Sept. 20, 1934 in Freeport, the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Whitacre) Krull.
Janet was married to the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Buffington for 67 years. Mr. Buffington passed away Oct. 26, 2019. Janet enjoyed spending time with family and watching them grow as the years went by. She took many trips with Bob and friends. Often the trips included her passion for birdwatching. Janet was also active at Forreston First United Methodist Church where she was a member. She enjoyed working with the church family on community and church activities. Janet was happy to say she was a member of the United Methodist Ladies for over 65 years. Janet was a cook at the Forreston Grade School for over 25 years.
Surviving is her son, Jim (Terri) Buffington; daughters, LuAnn (Randy Sheffner, Cherie (Mark) Lower, and Charlene (Bill) White. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and grandchildren, Jim Bob Buffington, and Chasidey Porter.
Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Monday April 12, 2021 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. A private family service was held the following day. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
