Evert L. “Sam” Kump

OREGON – Evert L. “Sam” Kump, age 88, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his home in Oregon. He was born June 21, 1931 on the family farm near Oregon, the son of Ferdinand W. and Dorothy (Drumheller) Kump. 

Sam attended Oregon schools.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 – 1952. Sam married Jean Cook on Feb. 19, 1955. He worked most of his life for the Telephone companies in the Oregon area. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oregon and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Oregon VFW Post # 8739. His favorite hobby throughout his life was pigeon racing. He also enjoyed woodworking. 

Sam was predeceased by his parents, brothers Donald, Harold, and David Kump, sisters Sue Kump, and Erma Moser, daughter-in-law Vickie Kump, and son-in-law Dennis Donahue. 

He is survived by his wife Jean of Oregon, son Mike Kump of Paynes Point, daughter Debra Donahue of Anchorage, Ala., 3 grandchildren; Megan, Ryan, and Cameron, 3 brothers; Raymond (Ardis) Kump of Adeline, Jake (Jean) Kump of Oregon, and Dennis (Jeanne) Kump of Oregon, and several nieces and nephews. 

A private graveside service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery near Oregon with the Rev. Joseph Naill officiating. No visitation. A memorial fund is established in Evert L. Kump’s name. Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com to leave a condolence.
