POLO – On Monday, June 6, members of St. Mary’s Altar and Rosary Society gathered at the White Pines Restaurant for lunch and the installation of new officers.
The new officers included Kathy Bickford as president, Connie O’Brien as vice president, Kay Tyne as secretary and Kris Clothier as treasurer. All of the new officers were able to attend other than Kathy Bickford. Mary Williams conducted an installation service of candle lighting for the new officers. The newly elected officers have consented to “Keep the Flame Growing” as many previous generations have done in the past.
Rev. Joseph P. Naill has been the pastor at St. Mary’s in Polo since 2014. He had been the pastor at St. Mary’s in Oregon and also took on the responsibility of St. Mary’s in Polo when there was a vacancy.
The Altar and Rosary Society has been very active at St. Mary’s Church in several areas for decades. Activities declined during the pandemic but are now returning to prior levels. The biggest event of the year is the luncheon and Chinese auction that is always held in October. Other activities of the society include helping with funerals, sending cards to the sick, items during Holy Week, Christmas and other dates as well as a kitchen committee for serving food at special events. Membership is open to all women of the parish.
