BYRON — ByronFest’s 27th Annual Quilt Show was held July 11th through 13th at the Byron Museum of History. Quilt Show Committee Co-Chairs Wanda Cacciatore and Jan Emmons are happy to announce the success of the show and acknowledge the entries and ribbon winners. According to Marian Michaelis, Executive Director, Byron Museum: “Over 200 visitors toured the museum and enjoyed the quilts and fabric art on display.” Area quilters displayed 47 pieces of their fabric works of art. Items were selected for awards by judge Jill Shaulis and viewers voted on their favorite quilt and wall hanging to win a “People’s Choice” award. First place winners received a blue ribbon and a $25 cash prize. The Byron Museum of History is dedicated to preserving Byron’s rich history through exhibits, programs, and artifact preservation. Built in 1843 for the Read family by Pardon Kimball, the house was a focal point in early Byron. The Museum also features local history exhibits and the historic Read House, including Albert G. Spalding, Underground Railroad, Byron Schools, Farming, Outhouse Archeology, Local Railroad, Clamming on the Rock River, and much more! Museum Hours: 10am to 3pm Wednesday through Saturday.
