ROCKFORD--Genevieve Phyllis Marinelli, 96 of Rockford died Friday, December 28, 2012 at home. Born October 20, 1916 in Rockford, Illinois to Carl and Josefina (Polkowski) Buczynski. Married Peter Marinelli on September 25, 1937 in Rockford at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Genevieve never met a sale she didn’t like and was very proud of her Polish heritage. Worked for Rockford Medical Supply later known as Marion Laboratories for 30 years retiring in 1981.
Survivors; Daughter, Janis Bacino; Sons, Thomas (Bernice) Marinelli and P. Gregg (Kathy) Marinelli; Grandchildren, Geoff (Nathalie), Miki and Lara Bacino, Dan, Missy, Lisa, Josh, Gregory, Jim (Jacey) and Kristina Marinelli; Great-Grandchildren; Angela, Evan, Marissa, Maddison, Haden and Emily Bacino, Jake, Wil, Gillian Sheley and Aidan Marinelli and Jaiden Merrills. Nieces and nephews Sandy (Clyde) Tucker, Dennis Buczynski, Noe “Whitey” (Jean) Marinelli and Michael (Pamela) Marinelli. Special friends Sharon Black and Ted Bacino. Predeceased by her husband Peter, 2 brothers and sister-in-laws Stan (Ruth)Buczynski and Frank (Vi) Buczynski. Special thank you to Genevieve’s caregivers Vee Curioso for 3 years of devoted and loving care and Virginia Pulido for the last month of Genevieve’s life.
Funeral Mass 11 am Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Cathedral of St. Peter 1243 North Church Street with Father Jeremy Trowbridge officiating. Burial in St. Mary/St. James Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Cathedral of St. Peter or the organization of your choice.
