BYRON – Jane E. Geiger, age 93, died Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. She was born July 30, 1919 in Oregon the daughter to Abe and Jennie (Boom) Luepkes.
She married George Geiger on Feb. 10, 1940 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her on Mar. 4, 1977.
Jane was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lindenwood. She was also in the Ladies Aid and Alter Guild of the church. She served on the Democratic Election Committee. She was active in the Byron area Senior Citizen’s Group. Jane enjoyed Crocheting, baking, and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband George, daughter Marlene Leek, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 Granddaughter Pamela Leek, and 1 great grandson Joshua Leek.
Survived by her 3 children; Larry Geiger of Pecatonica, Dennis Geiger of Poplar Grove, and Cindy (Gene) Schoon of Cherry Valley, Son-in-law Jim Leek of Tennessee, 7 grandchildren; Sheila (Stan) Miller, Randy (Julie) Leek, Shelly (Rich) Abate, Sheri (Mike) Bossany, Jennifer (Mike) Wilson, Jeffrey (Randi) Schoon, and Michael (Wendy) Schoon, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 10 Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lindenwood with the Rev. David Yarrington pastor of the church officiating.
Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rochelle. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm, Sunday, Jan. 6th at the Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Rd. in Stillman Valley.
