James Louis Bennett

MOUNT MORRIS — James Louis Bennett, age 81, died Sunday December 30, 2012 in his home. Jim was born March 4, 1931 in Ogle County, the son of John P. and Mable M. (Stonebreaker) Bennett. Jim graduated from Stillman Valley High School. Jim was in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict; receiving National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and The Korean Service Medal. Jim married Janet Lee Anderson on November 12, 1955 in South Elgin. Jim was a member of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge, Dixon Elks, Leaf River Fire Department, and a life member of V.F.W.
Jim is survived by his wife; Janet Bennett, Mt. Morris; Son: Charles (Joanie) Bennett, Charlotte, NC; Daughter: Julie (Bob) McCullough, Amboy, . Granddaughters: Melissa (Anthony Williams) Ellis, Belvidere; Ann Goley, Oregon; Gabrielle McCullough, Amboy; Allison Bennett, Charlotte, NC. 2 Great-Granddaughters: Hailey-Jane Becker, Amboy, and Natalie Jane Woods, Charlotte, NC. Brothers: Robert Bennett, Leaf River, and Frank (Gale) Bennett, Princeton; Sister: Joanne (James) Proper, Dixon.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Paul and Carl Bennett; Sisters: Harriet Maas, Mary Rasmussen, and Ruth Bennett.
Private famy services wl be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. Cremation rites have been accorded by Finch Funeral Home, Mt. Morris.
