David Denver Dockins

BYRON- David Denver Dockins, 75, died Wednesday, October 31, 2012 with his wife Linda at his side at Swedish American Hospital after a brief illness. Born August 9, 1937 in Kennett, Missouri, to Raymond and Neola (Jones) Dockins. He married Linda Woods on October 10,1959, and they recently celebrated their 53rd Anniversary. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. David was a heavy machine operator and worked for Rockford Blacktop for 39 years. He was a member of the Byron Masonic Lodge and the Mount Morris Moose Lodge, also a life time fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. David loved spending time outdoors overlooking the river and the “pit”, playing golf, and especially enjoyed the camaraderie that evolved on Sundays at Bobby’s garage. He was a very generous man and took good care of his wife and family.
Survived by wife, Linda; son, Dennis (Debe) Dockins; daughters, Pam Dockins, and Kim (Gary) Rice; grandchildren, Stephen and Michael; brother Doug (Barb) Dockins; and sister, Wanda (David) Papan; and, brother-in-law, Steve (Virginia) Woods. Predeceased by parents.
A celebration of David’s Life will be held on Friday, November 23, 2012, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Byron American Legion Hall 116 N. Union St. Byron, Il.
