MT. MORRIS - Charles Cloyd Beard will celebrate his 90th birthday with an Open House on Saturday, July 7 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge Family Center, 485 East Hitt Street in Mt. Morris. No gifts, please. At 7 p.m. Charlie and Deb Beard are hosting Switch Track band at the Moose Lodge. All are welcome.
Charles Beard was born in Fairbank, Iowa on Friday, July 7, 1922 ( his father’s birthday) the son of Ira E. and Cassie (Cloyd) Beard. He had one sister, Margaret Wilkinson. Charles attended Maple Grove School west of Mt. Morris and graduated from Mt. Morris High School, Class of 1940. On August 23, 1947, Charles married Marjorie Horst. They were married 59 years with two children, Connie (Rich) Mongan and Charles E. (Deb) Beard (Mt. Morris). Charles has four grandchildren, one step grandson, six great grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren. Charles has farmed in Mt. Morris Township since the early 1940’s; he remains active in the farming operation.
Charles has dedicated his life to service: service to his family, his friends, his neighbors, and the community. He has been a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris for 76 years. He is a 50+ year member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge (Polo), Tebala Shrine Temple (Rockford), the Valley of Freeport Scottish Rite Bodies, the Mt. Morris Lions Club, the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge, and the Mt. Morris Goodfellows, having served as the Goodfellows Chairman from 1995 - 2010.
