ROCKFORD – Marilyn J. Williams, age 76, died Sunday June 24, 2012 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon. She was born December 29, 1935 in Freeport, to George and Irene (Sabin) Borcherts.
Marilyn married Richard Williams on Feb 28, 1959. She worked as a retail clerk at the Farm and Fleet in Rockford. She was a member of the Harmony Club of Rockford for over 25 years and a member of the Red Hat Ladies. She was also an active member of All Saints Church in Byron where she served on the prayer chain and Alter Guild.
Marilyn was a homemaker who centered her entire life around loving and caring for her family. She was affectionately called Mimi by her grandchildren. She enjoyed being outside, gardening, her flowers, reading, shopping, and feeding the birds and squirrels.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Richard, daughter, Audrey (David) Adams of Byron; grandchildren, Courtney Loomis and Jay Adams; sister, Donna (Joe) LaRue of New Milford; brothers, Richard “Dick” (Marilyn) Borcherts of Salem Springs, AR, Jim (Lois) Borcherts of New Milford, and Donald “Bud” (Pernie) Borcherts of Rockford; sister-in-laws, Helen Reynolds, Delores Lane, and Beverly Williams, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
She is predeceased by her parents and sister, Geraldine Bouma.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron with Pastor Scott Schmidt officiating. Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial was in Byron Cemetery.
