Joan (Hall) Smith

OREGON – Joan (Hall) Smith, 89, of Oregon, fell asleep in death in her home Saturday June 9, 2012 and is awaiting our Lord’s return.
Joan was born November 1, 1922 in Rochester, NY.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Edwin, who was also her faithful caregiver for the last few years of her life; Children: Ken (Sharon) Hall of Arizona, Ray (Susan) Hall of Michigan, Connie (Dale) Ramsey of Virginia, Gail (Ron) Bratcher of Tennessee, Kerry (fiancée Christina Watts) Hall of Illinois, Linda (Buzz) Rundlett of New York, and Edwin “Eddie” Smith, Jr. of Illinois; sister, Lorraine Dornbos of Michigan; sisters-in-law, Phil vanZwoll of Maine and Zola Jayne (Lou) Schnelle of Ohio; brothers-in-law, David (Betty) Hall of Arizona, Richard (Jean) Smith , Terry Smith and Norman Smith, all of Ohio and Gary (Kathy) Smith of Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Milon Hall, a granddaughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Joan was a godly woman, wife, mother, teacher and friend. She loved music, especially when it was in praise of her God. She and Milon served many churches in the Midwest and Canada. Joan and Edwin enjoyed travel, family, friends, and a rich faith in God. The family thanks Unity Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Joan.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 14 in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon with Pastor Gordon Landry of Flagg Center Church of God officiating. Burial was in Kent Memorial Gardens, Byron Center, Michigan. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Visit www.farrellhollandgale.com.
