The Ogle County Board continued to move forward on plans for a new sheriff's administration building at Tuesday's night's meeting. Long Range Chairman Don Griffin updated the board on the progress with plans for the new facility.
After looking at the plans the committee decided to incorporate the coroner's office into the new sheriff's building. Currently the morgue is located in the sheriff's department and the coroner's offices are in the Ogle County Courthouse.
"The architects have drawn up new plans that would include the coroner's office and storage at the south end of the new building," Griffin said. The new proposed building is estimated to cost $4.3 million dollars. A final decision on the project will be made by the end of the year.
The county board amended the fee schedule for the planning and zoning Department. A $500 fee will be passed onto individuals in special flood hazard areas for development permits. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources requires a consultation fee for natural resource consultation in these areas. The board approved passing the state fee of $500 onto the permit holder instead of the county absorbing the cost. Mike Reibel, Ogle County Planning and Zoning Administrator, projected the new fee from the state, if not passed on, would cost the county anywhere from $10,000-15,000.
The board approved hiring Richard V. Stewart of Hesse Martone, PC as a new labor attorney. Board chairman Kim Gouker commented the new attorney is $100 an hour cheaper than their previous one. Stewart residents in Springfield and will assist the board on labor and union contracts.
The board unanimously approved the appointment of Janet Stahlheber to the Ogle County Housing Authority Board.
