LEAF RIVER — Elmer Edward Lingbeck, 81, of Leaf River, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford. He was born June 22, 1930 in Florence Station, the son of Edward & Esther Wubbena Lingbeck. He married Patricia Cain in Adeline, on July 29, 1951.
Elmer farmed in the Byron and Leaf River area his entire farming life. He enjoyed family, friends, and farming. He also enjoyed playing cards and belonged to the neighborhood card club for 40 years. Elmer was a member of the Leaf River Grange, Ogle County Pomona Grange, Illinois State Grange, Ogle County Farm Bureau, and the Seward Congregational Church.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; son, Kenneth (Nickie) Lingbeck of Leaf River; daughters, Donna (Scott) Moffitt of Raeford, NC, and Diane (Michael) Hemmersbach of Leaf River; and grandchildren, Kyle Hemmersbach, Bobby Moffitt, Ashlyn Moffitt, Alyse Moffitt, Eli Moffitt, and Kaden Lingbeck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Roger Lingbeck, sister, Betty Raley, and an infant daughter, Kimberly Lingbeck.
Funeral services were held Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron with Rev. Ronald Farb officiating. Visitation was at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:30–6:00 p.m. Graveside service will be on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Lightsville Cemetery, Leaf River.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Seward Congregational Church.
