The Byron Civic Theatre announced their 18th Season at the Annual Gala on May 19.
BCT’s season will open on July 27 with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s OKLAHOMA. BCT will kick off the Christmas season with ANNIE WARBUCKS, the sequel to the ever popular ANNIE. The action picks up right where ANNIE leaves off and continues to the Orphanage, a Tennessee sharecropper’s home, a suite at the Waldorf-Astoria, on board the Staten Island Ferry and, of course, the White House.
BCT will treat your winter blues with the smash comedy, LEND ME A TENOR. A chain-reaction of mistaken identity, farcical plot twists, double entendres, innuendoes and constant entrances and exits through many doors makes LEND ME A TENOR one of the funniest plays on the stage. BCT closes the season with RING OF FIRE – The Music of Johnny Cash. His remarkable life story is told through his music, climaxing in a concert tribute that will both move and exhilarate.
BCT also produces the Byron Middle School Musical. This year, the middle school will be performing SEUSSICAL! JR on September 15 and 16. SEUSSICAL! JR is a musical adaptation of the works of Dr. Seuss that centers around the story of Horton the Elephant.
Auditions for OKLAHOMA are set for June 10 at 7:00. Prepare a song to audition with and be prepared to read from the script. There will be no auditions for elementary or middle school children. Although there are some roles for younger children, those roles will be cast from children of the adult cast and crew. Contact the director via email at Oklahoma@bctmagic.com with any additional questions. Auditions will be held at the Byron Middle School theatre at 850 North Colfax in Byron.
