Junior High team sends five individuals to state tournament in DeKalb

DEKALB — The Oregon Junior High wrestling team sent five athletes to the IESA State Championships at the NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb over the weekend.

Levi Benton (37-1) won the 126-pound state championship, finishing 4-0 over four matches with three wins coming by decision and one win coming by fall. Boone Alderks (11-4) finished fourth in the 105-pound division, going 4-2 over six matches with two wins coming by fall, one by major decision and one by decision.

Yovanni Carreno (8-2) took fifth in the 215-pound division with a 4-2 record over six matches, while Carson Benesh (10-3) took fifth in the 95-pound division with a 4-2 record over six matches. Jacksyn Windham (5-3) went 1-2 over three bouts in the 185-pound division.
