The Polo High School varsity boys basketball team scored a 62-52 win over Milledgeville on Thursday, Feb. 1. Brock Soltow scored a team-leading 30 points for the Marcos, while Gus Mumford totaled 16 points and Nolan Hahn added 12 points in the victory.

Oregon girls basketball defeats North Boone

The Oregon High School varsity girls basketball team won 52-30 over North Boone on Thursday, Feb. 1. Sarah Eckardt and Alease McLain each scored 10 points for the Hawks, while Ella Dannhorn added eight points and Teagan Champley recorded seven points. Mya Engelkes chipped in six points for the Oregon team in the win.

Forreston boys basketball wins over Amboy

The Forreston High School varsity boys basketball team recorded a 54-31 win over Amboy on Thursday, Feb. 1. The Cardinals (8-14 overall, 4-4 conference) received 18 points from Mickey Probst, who took two charges in the game and set a new single-season record for charges taken in a season. Kendall Erdmann added 18 points for the Cardinals.

Oregon girls bowling competes at IHSA Regional

Oregon’s Katy Miller bowled at the IHSA Regional in Rockford on Saturday, Feb. 3. Miller rolled a 412 series in the first half of the tournament and a 485 series during the second half to finish 38th individually with a final score of 897.

Forreston boys basketball shoots past Christian Life

The Forreston High School varsity boys basketball team shot down Rockford Christian Life for a 55-49 win on Saturday, Feb. 3. Kendall Erdmann led the Cardinals (9-14 overall and 4-4 in conference) with 21 points and six assists, while Brendan Greenfield added 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double. Mickey Probst contributed 12 points for Forreston in the win.

Oregon girls basketball loses against Rockford Lutheran

The Oregon High School varsity girls basketball team lost 56-14 against Rockford Lutheran on Monday, Feb. 5. The Hawks moved to 6-22 overall with the loss. The JV Hawks won 32-21. Mya Engelkes and Noelle Girton each scored six points for Oregon in the loss.

The Polo High School varsity boys basketball team suffered a 61-50 loss against Dakota on Monday, Feb. 5. Brock Soltow led the Marcos with 24 points, while Gus Mumford added eight points. Carter Merdian and Nolan Hahn combined for 11 points in the loss.

Oregon boys basketball edges Indian Creek

The Oregon High School varsity boys basketball team edged Indian Creek for a 65-64 win on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The Hawks improved to 14-13 overall with the win. The JV team won 44-32 and the fresh-soph team lost 51-26 against Newman Central Catholic.

Noah Johnson led the Hawks with 15 points, while Cooper Johnson added 13 points and Nole Campos totaled 10 points. Jameson Caposey and Keaton Salsbury combined for 14 points.
