Letter: Civility is still out there

Posted

Dear editor,

Lowell Harp's article last week was on the hunger for civility. Civility may seem waning, but it resides with every one of us waiting to be expressed. In evidence of its current existence, I wish to extend a public thank you to John Dobbs who stopped on Illinois Route 64 Friday night to assist with a flat tire. We had never met, yet he pulled over to offer help at 10 p.m. on a foggy eve. With his help and hydraulic jack, the car was quickly raised out of the mud and a swap of tires completed.
This was unexpected and highly appreciated. Thank you, John, for your kindness and civility.
