BYRON – Malinda “Mindy” S. Thomas, age 47, of Byron passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She was born on Nov. 20, 1970 in Belvidere the daughter of Dale and Barbara (Miller) Bennett.
Mindy worked at Rochelle Hospital as a surgical tech. Her family was the center of her life and she loved spending time going to the boat with her sister. Her children were the most important thing in her life and she enjoyed following their sporting events and academic endeavors. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching Big Brother and Forensic Files, shoe shopping, and taking a much deserved nap.
She is survived by her children, Emily Thomas and Dayne Thomas of Byron; her mother, Barbara Bennett of Pecatonica; siblings, Dewayne (Jody) Bennett of Naperville, Galen (Denise) Bennett of Byron, Jeff Aronson of LaGrange Park, and Belinda (Gary) Mayberry of Pecatonica; special friend, Stan Bennett of Kirkland; best friend, Christie Colombi and her family; former spouse, Zachary Thomas of Byron; and fur babies, Rocket and Bianca.
She is preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
A memorial service was held at the Farrell Holland Gale Funeral Home in Stillman Valley at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 with Pastor Gary Cortese officiating. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials are established to help fund her children’s education.
