BYRON – Lois Yvonne Lapp, 77, of Byron, died Monday, July 3, 2017 near Winnebago. Born in Hartington, Nebraska on June 6, 1940 to Axel and Villena (Wormke) Berglund, she was the 10thof their 11 children.
She graduated from Hartington High School in 1958 and attended Wayne State College (Wayne, NE) before moving to Rockford. She worked for Rockford Newspapers and Liberty Mutual Insurance before her marriage to Kenneth Lapp on Feb. 27, 1965. After moving to Byron in 1977, she became the Byron Township assessor and later worked for the Rockford Township Assessor.
Lois was a charter member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Byron where she served in many capacities, including church council, women’s group, altar guild, crafters, and many committees. She loved her family, especially the Berglund Reunions and lunches with the YA YA’s (Joann Farris, Linda Stein, and Kathy Hamas). She also enjoyed her outings with the ‘4 L’s’- her longtime friends (Laverne Larson, Jeanne Lindquist, and Joyce Lantz). Her monthly card club was a must since 1965, and her love for the ladies of the Red Hat’s and their gatherings always brought her great joy. She spent much of her free time enjoying crafts, ceramics, sewing and reading.
Lois is survived by her husband Ken; two sons; Ken (Angie) and Tim (Laurie); beloved granddaughters, Kasey Lapp, Chelsea (Brett) Lyons, Allison Bailey and Jordan Bailey; three brothers, two sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
