STILLMAN VALLEY – Lewis B. Riley, 83, of Stillman Valley passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 in his home. He was born in Melvern, Kan., on Feb. 15, 1934, the son of Odis and Effie (DeForest) Riley.

Lewis graduated high school in Hazel Park, Mich. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force. Lewis married Myrna Norman on Aug. 30, 1958 in Tangier, Ind. After the Air Force, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 37 years spending the last 18 years of his career as the air traffic control manager at the Rockford International Airport. Lewis and Myrna attended Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Stillman Valley. In his retirement, Lewis enjoyed art. He volunteered as a docent at the Rockford Art Museum and taught numerous children and adults art classes.

Lewis is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Myrna Riley of Stillman Valley; children, Tammy (Dan) Thompson of Roscoe and Michael (Julie) Riley of Bloomington; siblings, Jerry (Mary) Riley of Converse, Texas and Alice Lee of North Glenn, Colo.; grandchildren, Megan Riley, Miles Riley, Brendan Riley, and Nathan Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Theodore Riley.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Kishwaukee Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Stillman Valley with Pastor Eric Tonjes officiating. Visitation was held from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Kishwaukee Cemetery. A memorial fund is established for the church.
