Lance E. Barnes

OREGON – Lance E. Barnes, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2017. He was born Aug. 17, 1936 in Chicago the son of Kenneth and Simonne (Jagot) Barnes.
Lance obtained his Associates Degree in Firefighting.  He married Marjorie “Marge” VanStedum on March 9, 1957 in Cicero. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 8 years from 1955-1963. Lance retired in 1996 from the Franklin Park Fire Dept. after 36 years of service. He and his wife moved to Oregon in 1999. He served on the Consistory of the Ebenezer Reformed Church stewardship and property committee. He also was a member of Gideon’s International and the Blackhawk Train Club at Conover Square in Oregon.
He was formerly an Elder at the Westside Reformed Church in Cicero.  Lance loved to fish, go trap shooting, and high power rifle shooting.
He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers Tad and Bruce, and sister Nancy Cecchi.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marge, 3 daughters; Judith Lynn (Philip) Rizzo of Hoffman Estates, Cynthia Renee (Jeffrey) Knowles of Kona, Hawaii, and Cheryl Jean Wilkinson of McHenry, 5 grandchildren; Kristie and Seth Knowles, Philip, Jr. (Natalia)Rizzo, Steven Rizzo, and Natalie Rizzo, 3 Great Grandchildren; Marissa, Colleen, Dominic, and Anthony.
Funeral service was 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Ebenezer Reformed Church Oregon,  with the Rev. John Wisdom pastor of the church officiating. Burial in the Ebenezer Cemetery.  Visitation was from 5-8 p.m., Friday evening at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7thSt., Oregon. A memorial fund is established for the Ebenezer Reformed Church or the Serenity Hospice and Home.
