John L. “Huck” Clapper

OREGON – John L. “Huck” Clapper, age 57, a loving husband, father and grandfather, died suddenly Friday, Sept. 8, 2017 at Mercy Health Hospital in Rockford. He was born March 22, 1960 in Dixon the son of John S. and Betty (Ennenga) Clapper.
He graduated from Oregon High School in 1978. He married Cherie Hargis July 22, 1986 in Oregon.  He worked 26 years for Quebecor in Mount Morris and worked the past year for Raynor in Dixon. Huck loved most of all his family. He was a dedicated husband and father. He enjoyed watching his children’s sporting events. He loved to be outdoors hiking and fishing. He enjoyed his trips to Wisconsin and Canada. He was known to his family and friends by his good sense of humor.
Huck is survived by his wife Cherie, 3 children; Matthew Clapper, Erin Clapper(Jacob Lewis), and Evan Clapper, grandson London Lewis all of Oregon, mother Betty Roberts of Mount Morris, brother Jamie (Roberta) Roberts of Leaf River, sister Debra (George) Cox of Mount Morris, Father-in-law Lloyd (Karen) Hargis of Janesville, Wis., brother-in-law Barry Hargis, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father John S. Clapper who proudly served in WWII, and his 2 sisters; Gloria Prichard and Barbara Clapper.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. with a 4 p.m. prayer service on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7thSt. Oregon. Pastor John Guthrie of the East Oregon Chapel of the Church of God will lead the Prayer service. A memorial fund is established in Huck’s name. Visit www.farrellhollangale.com
