Gladys L. Osborne

OREGON – Gladys L. Osborne, age 100, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon. Gladys was born Sept. 6, 1916 in Dixon, the daughter of Fred F. and Louise (Stanley) Odenthal.
She graduated from Dixon High School class of 1934 and she attended Dixon Business College. On Sept. 18, 1938 she married Hubert Osborne in Dixon, and he preceded her in death. Gladys worked for Kable News Company and later she worked for Watt Publishing retiring after 24 years. Gladys loved to travel, where she visited Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Scandinavia, and the Mediterranean. Gladys was an avid Cubs fan, enjoyed bus trips to Wrigley Field and she was able to watch the Cubs win the World Series. Gladys was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was on Trinity’s Chancel and Alter and Dorcas Circle, Mt. Morris, life member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose #485, and the Mount Morris Senior Center. She bowled for many years and participated in state and national bowling tournaments. Gladys loved being with her family and friends and she attended her grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.
Gladys is survived by her son: Ron Osborne, ount Morris; daughter: Trudy (Sherwood) Drumheller; 5 grandchildren: Mark Osborne, Jay (Penny) Drumheller, Jason (Senia) Osborne, Troy (Machele) Drumheller, and Megan (Sean Robinson) Hultquist; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great- great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, husband: Hubert; brother: Frederick Odenthal; and sisters: Helen Benson and Arlene Blum.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11 a.m.. in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Josh Ehrler officiating. Private family burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Dixon. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 10 a.m. until service time in Trinity Lutheran Church.
