DAVIS JUNCTION – George A. Joesten, age 95, died Friday, March 30, 2018. He was born July 16, 1922 in Oregon, the son of Ailt and Mary (Gigous) Joesten.
George was a lifelong farmer in the Davis Junction, Stillman Valley, and Oregon areas. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Stillman Valley Fire Protection District. He served on the Ogle County Regional School Board for many years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford, and the German Society of Rockford. George loved to go dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Nelmer.
He is survived by his children: Gary Joesten of California, Sandra Hillis of Stillman Valley, Larry Joesten of Rockford, and Cindy Page of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Brother Robert (Janet) Joesten of Denver, Colo., sister Joan Glendenning of Stillman Valley, and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral service was 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 136 W. Roosevelt Road in Stillman Valely. Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial in the Stillman Valley Cemetery. A memorial fund is established in his name.
