OREGON – Linda Beck was overwhelmingly elected Ogle County’s new treasurer on March 20, earning 3,928 votes to opponent Patrick Wiesner’s 1,646 votes.

Beck, who has served in the treasurer’s office for 12 years, will take over for retiring treasurer John Coffman.

Although only a primary election, Beck and Wiesner are both Republicans and no Democrat ran for the seat. That means Beck is elected treasurer.

A total of 8,401 registered voters voted in the county out of 30,493. That puts the turnout for the election at 27.5 percent.

In the races for County Board, only Republican incumbent Ron Colson, Mount Morris, was defeated. In Colson’s District 7, the winners were Stanley Asp with 494 votes and Dean Fox with 454. Colson finished with 375 votes.

District 7 includes Mount Morris and Forreston.

In the governor’s race, incumbent Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner earned 2,955 votes in the county, while challenger Jeanne Ives received 2,749.

On the Democratic side, candidate J.B. Pritzker topped all gubernatorial candidates in the county with 1,321 votes.
