BYRON — You may have already seen the construction starting at Byron Bank at their main office in Byron. The addition is 4,400 square feet on each level.
The upper floor will contain 11 offices, seven work stations, a receptionist and a coffee-bar waiting area. The lower level will have eight offices, six work stations, the computer center and file storage.
Presently, every office in the bank is filled as well as extra desks placed around in quiet corners. The drive-in and ATM have been re-routed to enter on either Second Street or Washington Street. The current entrance has been closed due to where the building is being constructed.
David Jenkins & Associates PC of Rockford has designed the project, Rockford Structures is doing the construction and Julie Tran Design is creating the interiors. This is the same group that built the branch for Byron Bank in Poplar Grove. The project should be completed in November and then the interiors of the existing bank will be remodeled to coordinate with the new addition.
Because of the recent decline in mortgage-interest rates, Byron Bank has closed 1150 mortgage loans since January 1, 2009. That is nearly four times as many as the first half of 2008. The new facility will provide the extra space needed to efficiently serve the customers of Byron Bank and will also provide a few more jobs to workers in our area.
